Mortgage Broker Raglan, Hamilton, Te Awamutu
10 years working in residential, investment and commercial mortgages along with business and commercial asset finance, both in New Zealand and abroad, has given me an excellent understanding of the New Zealand and international mortgage and finance markets. On a daily basis this experience sees me achieving ‘best outcomes’ for my clients when it comes to finding and applying for the right mortgage for their situation.
I am customer-focused and knowledgeable, so you know you are getting great assistance with your mortgage requirements no matter what your needs are.
First home buyer home loans
I find helping first home buyers to achieve the purchase of their first home hugely satisfying. Buying property, especially securing a good mortgage, is a very stressful and confusing process first time around so I walk first home buyers through every step to make sure it goes smoothly. This includes providing all relevant information to first home buyers in a timely manner on all aspects of their mortgage application, so they always know where they stand.
Not every mortgage application is an open and shut case; in fact there are many people who have diverse and often complex requirements from their mortgage. I’m highly experienced at working with clients who have complex mortgage needs and thrive on the challenge of finding the most advantageous path for my clients.
Helping clients to build wealth through property investment is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my role as a mortgage broker. Loan and ownership structure is critical in property investment, so I work closely with trusted specialist property accountants and lawyers to achieve the best outcomes for my property investment clients; and that means finding the right investment loan to match their property and overall investment goals.
What if the bank says ‘no’?
If your bank has declined your mortgage appllication, that’s not necessarily the end of your property purchase aspirations. On a weekly basis I turn a ‘no’ from a bank into a ‘yes’ from that same bank, a rival bank or one of New Zealand’s many non-bank lenders. If you have been turned down, it’s important to remember that most lenders have very different ways of looking at clients, which means that although you may not be able to secure a mortgage with one lender, you may well qualify easily with another. Make use of my knowledge and experience to find the right lender for you, based on your individual situation and requirements.
Home loans for migrants
Having lived in various countries myself, I know that financing a property purchase can be very challenging. I empathise with the many migrants to New Zealand who are facing those challenges, but who truly want to purchase property. Different rules, laws, processes and terminology can be frustrating and confusing so I guide my immigrant clients every step of the way, ensuring they understand the process of securing a mortgage and purchasing property thoroughly.
Retirees need finance too – home equity release mortgages
New Zealand has an aging population that is ‘asset rich’ but ‘cash poor’. I am highly experienced in ‘Home Equity Release’ mortgages and can assist in determining whether a ‘Reverse Mortgage’ is appropriate for your situation.

Buying our first home really was a breeze!
As I am sure you can appreciate, moving between country’s and buying a new home can be a really tough time, especially when you’re first time buyers and know very little about the legalities and purchasing process. We were lucky enough to be in contact with Brett at an early stage of our move (before we even left the UK) and I can truly say that he has been the most helpful and genuine person to deal with throughout. Brett, for us, I would say went far beyond his role as a mortgage broker when it came to all of the general questions I would fire at him, by phone, email or in person, but he was more than happy to assist wherever possible, and always promptly too.
Our mortgage profile was certainly not an easy one to place in the market, but Brett was not fazed by this, instead he supported and guided us through the whole process. We certainly have Brett to thank for helping us to achieve our dream home!

Having recently relocated from the Western Bay of Plenty to the Bay of Islands to take up a new position, I had the need for a Mortgage Broker. The reason I used a broker was simple – the purchase was not straight forward involving several types of properties and securities.
I required the services of someone who had good depth of knowledge in terms of the current attitude of various banks to the current economic climate and the types of products and after sales service they offered.
I was not dissapointed, Brett has been exceptional to deal with from the onset. I was particularly impressed with his timely and professional advice, he displayed a great depth of experience in the banking sector always providing well qualified answers to my questions and offerring innovative ideas.
Ultimately we had the choice of two banks, the final decision was based largely on Brett’s experience and recommendations around service. We were not dissapointed.

We are very glad that we made contact with you for assisting with our mortgage.Right from the time we met you, we were confident that we would be able to get a home loan and we quite liked the way you positively handled our case. It seemed just like you were a Godsend to us when one of the banks let us down after a long delay in processing our application. We are also grateful for and appreciative of the effort you put into our case and the constant communication from you from start to finish. You obviously enjoy what you do and give a very clear impression that you work for the client. We definitely have no reservation at all to recommend you to other people in similar situations.Thank you once again for all your assistance.

I wanted to take the opportunity to pass on some feed back re Brett Wood and his applications. Since commencing with David Hart's team in August/09 Brett's applications have been of a very high standard and pass with flying colours regarding the Quality requirements with ASB submissions.
He always submits applications that are completed in full, have all supporting information and most important of all has a Diary note that provides exactly the information we are seeking in regards to obtaining an approval for his clients.
We in the ASB Central North Island Broker Centre rate Brett very highly and I know my Loan Writers enjoy working on his applications as they are not hunting for information or needing to contact to find missing information.
Brett is a pleasure to deal with and I am sure a very valued member of your Team.
